Over the years, Carroll’s ensembles have earned numerous awards.
Concert BandCarroll’s Concert Bands have earned superior ratings at the Ohio Music Educators Association Large Group contest. The concert ensemble performs traditional as well as contemporary literature over the course of the academic year. This is the core of the Music Department Curriculum. All members of the concert program participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event.
Marching Band and Guard
In 2005, the Marching Band was awarded first place in class AA at the Midstates Band Association Championships. The Marching Band followed suit in 2006 with a silver medal at the MSBA Championships. During the course of the Marching Band season, the group is very frequently awarded first place at local competitions. Each year the band performs at the very prestigious Bands of America Grand Nationals. In 2006, the Marching Band was 10th in Class AA.
Winter Percussion
The Carroll High School Winter Percussion Ensemble was 2007 WGI class scholastic A finalists and Scholastic A semifinalist at WGI World Championships in 2002 and 2006. The ensemble has also been named Scholastic A Regional Champion, and has medalled at the Mideast Performance Association Championships several times in the last six years.
Winter Guard
Carroll’s Winter Guard was named Scholastic A World Champion in the 1998 WGI National Competition. Since then, the group has continued to succeed in local and national events.
Jazz Band
The Jazz Band is an extension of the concert program, and performs several times a year. This group performs a variety of musical styles, and emphasizes jazz theory, jazz history, and improvisation.The group is designed to allow students who qualify the opportunity to raise their skills to a higher level of achievement. The concerts are usually the same nights as Concert Band concerts.
Brass Ensemble
The Carroll High School Brass Ensemble was founded in 2003. This group performs several times each year and competes ant the OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest. The musical selections performed by the ensemble are traditional, jazz, and popular styles.
Pep Band
The Pep Band is an integral part of the Carroll High School Music Department. The Pep Band is a voluntary musical group that gathers to entertain and lend support and spirit at Carroll Varsity basketball games. All games start at 7:30 pm, report time for warm-up is 6:30 pm, with downbeat for performance at 7:10 pm. Members of pep band will receive an award at the end of the year at the banquet.
