Band Staff
Mr. Carl Soucek has been Director of Bands at Carroll High School since 2002, and was Assistant Director of Bands from 2000-2002. Mr. Soucek joined the faculty after receiving a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Miami University. While at Miami, Mr. Soucek performed with the Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Steel Band, World Music Ensemble, Concert Percussion Ensemble, and Indoor Drumline. Under the direction of Mr. Gary Speck, Mr. Soucek had the honor of performing with the Miami University Wind Ensemble at the College Band Director’s National Association Conference in Austin, Texas. Mr. Soucek has studied with several accomplished instructors, including Dr. Jason Koontz, Dr. William Albin, Christoper Tanner, Gary Rudolph, and Michael French. He has also had the honor of performing with Srinivas Krishnan, and Grammy Award Winners Glen Velez, and Jamal Muhammed. Mr. Soucek is a member of Music Educators National Conference, and the Ohio Music Educators Association.
Mr. Scott Edgar has been the Assistant Director of Bands and brass specialist since 2002. Mr. Edgar received his Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Bowling Green State University. He is currently working on his Masters Degree in Music from the University of Dayton. Mr. Edgar has performed with the Bowling Green State University Concert Ensembles, the Trumpet Ensemble, Falcon Marching Band, Javanese Gamelan ensemble, and the Wright State University Orchestra. Mr. Edgar has studied conducting with Dr. Bruce Moss, Dr. Hubert Toney Jr., Dr. Frederick Fennell, Mr. Eric Whiltshire and Mr. Eugene Bohland. Mr. Edgar has had the pleasure of performing with Alan Vizzuti, Phillip Sparke, and Col. Arnold Gabriel. Mr. Edgar is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Ohio Music Educators Association, the International Trumpet Guild, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity and Kappa Kappa Psi Band fraternity.
Mr. Jon Pischl joined the Carroll High School Music Department staff in 2006. Mr. Pischl received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education Cum Laude, from Miami University in May 2006. Mr. Pischl studied Clarinet at Miami University under the instruction of Michele Gingras. While at Miami, Mr. Pischl performed with the Miami University Marching Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Opera Pit Orchestra, and the Men’s Glee Club. Mr. Pischl performed under the direction of several accomplished guest conductors as a member of the Wind Ensemble including, H. Robert Reynolds, the late Fredrick Fennell, and Jerry Junkin. Under the direction of Dr. Ethan Sperry, Mr. Pischl had the honor of traveling with the Miami University Men’s Glee Club to Harvard College to perform at the 2004 International Men’s Collegiate Choral Conference. Mr. Pischl also toured with the MUMGC across the United States and abroad through Germany, Luxemburg, and France. Mr. Pischl is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Educators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity.
